Harrison Dodge, a cybersecurity engineer on the red team at IT I.T. Tech, has repeatedly performed the wrong job duties due to a disability. Instead of performing red team actions, hacking internal systems to test security quality, Dodge has been performing blue team actions, adding defenses. This is all due to him being color blind. Something you wouldn't think would affect his work, but somehow has.
When questioned about his continued screw-ups, Dodge told us, "I have Protanopia, meaning I don't see the color red. Obviously you can see how this would affect my duties. I picked up the actions list for the other day's exercise thinking it was for the red team and didn't realize the sheet was blue. This is what we get for sharing a printer with the blue team. I should have realized what I was doing when I added custom alerts to the EDR. But I assumed they were a clever trick to exfiltrate data. A good hack needs to stay hidden."
The blue team is happy, of course. Dodge saved them a week of work AND did it incredibly well. For auditing reasons, IT I.T. Tech had to contract 3rd party pen testers for regulatory certification. The 3rd party testers weren't able to get into any part of the system, and it was all thanks to Dodge. The blue team has offered Dodge a role on their team, but Dodge declined because, "Eww, no. That's so boring. Red teaming is way more fun."
