Dev Sits During Daily Standup

On what appeared to be a normal stand-up meeting this past Wednesday morning, one developer chose to sit down a few minutes in. This act of defiance was met with gasps and awkward looks from others on the team. When the team lead asked why the developer chose to sit, he responded, "I just felt like sitting." Their employer is determining what recourse they have and worries this may spread to others in the organization. "If they want to sit during a stand-up meeting, they can do that on their work from home day like the rest of us. The chairs are purely decorative during any standup meeting," one executive proclaimed. Another developer on the team, who requested they remain anonymous, voiced support for their teammate and someday hopes to sit during a stand-up meeting. But they are still working up the courage. When asked if they sat down in protest to any cause, like racism or their employer's numerous crimes against humanity this past year, they simply responded, "No."
