Corporate Developer Team Lead John Dow completed a very successful yearly review meeting with his manager, Susan Sarandow. After asking about a promotion to Dev Manager, Sarandow says the chances of the promotion are high. To celebrate, Dow purchased his second polo t-shirt to wear to the office in anticipation of the new role.
When asked about the purchase, Dow said, "It's a joke that developers don't dress well. But you can't say that about me anymore. With two polos, I'll be able to wear one on whatever day of the week I have meetings with the higher ups, and the other will be a backup." After being informed managers have those types of meetings every day, Dow contacted Sarandow to state he no longer wishes to be a manager. He will keep the polo as a reminder of what could have been, but should never happen.
