A.I. CEOs are constantly talking about the risks of A.I. ending humanity as we know it. They boast about it in interviews, podcasts, and even in their sleep (don't ask how we know). This has led to large amounts of backlash from members of the public because they're part of humanity and don't want it to end before seeing the next set of Avengers films. Both Doomsday AND Secret Wars. This left OpenAI developer Pete Doobop mortified when he read the news that everyone is mad about this. He was under the impression the goal of OpenAI is, and always has been, to destroy humanity with A.I. technology. It's why he signed up in the first place.
Pete Doobop claimed he's always been a true believer in the mission. He works late nights and long weekends to hit internal goals. And even went so far as to not to make any plans past 2030, since society as we know it will have ended from the technology he's worked so tirelessly to create. But now, he doesn't know what to believe. "I'm getting mixed signals. One week we slow down model training, and the other we're firing the entire A.I. safety team. Hopefully management responds to my emails soon. If I'm confused, the public has no idea what's going on," remarked Doobop.
When asked what he thinks of OpenAI's stated mission to help the world and not harm it, he told us, "Everyone's welcome to their opinion, I guess."
