As software developers, we're obsessed with the next big thing. Obsessed with the technology that will "change everything". Desktop, to web, to mobile, to cloud, to the metaverse, to A.I. And in a few years it'll be something even less useful, like NFT A.I., whatever that is.
If we're always at the forefront of technology, we waste too much energy when it doesn't work out. Instead of chasing, we would save so much energy and heartache by following. We should look to the real leaders of our industry, and learn from them. The pioneers who have the resources to experiment before deploying at scale to the masses.
And as we all know, the best industry to follow for technology is adult entertainment. If PornHub doesn't use a technology, I won't even consider it.
